Wasn't too sure where to post this one. Have fun.
Here is a math trick so unbelievable that it will stump you.
Personally I would like to know who came up with this and why that
person is not running the country. Grab a calculator (you won't be able
to do this one in your head).
1. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the Area
Code)
2. Multiply by 80
3. Add 1
4. Multiply by 250
5. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number.
6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again.
7. Subtract 250
8. Divide number by 2
Do you recognize the answer?

Ahhh...imagining that irresistible "new car" smell?
Check out new cars at Yahoo! Autos. <http://us.rd.yahoo.com/evt=48245/*http://autos.yahoo.com/new_cars.html;_ylc=X3oDMTE1YW1jcXJ2BF9TAzk3MTA3MDc2BHNlYwNtYWlsdGFncwRzbGsDbmV3LWNhcnM->
sorry for the shit at the bottom of this post, forgot when I copied and pasted it.
I'm always happy to look at new cars and your maths problem ..I'll let you know.
Stevie.
That is soo cool!
Now that's some creative thinking there.
I got that in an email actually.
That was freakin cool!
Hmmm, the answer means nothing to me.
I screwed it up the first time I tried this, but that's pretty cool. I've seen something similar, but I can't remember how to do that one. Do you know where I can find similar math problems?
1. Call your prefix x.
2. Multiply by 80 you get 80x.
3. Add one you get 80x+1.
4. multiply by 250 you get 20000x+250.
5. add the last four, you get 20000x+250+last 4.
6. Add the last 4 of the number again you get 20000x+250+2 times the last 4 numbers.
7. Subtract 250 you get 20000x+2 times the last 4 numbers.
8. Devide by 2 and you get 10000x+the last 4 numbers.
It comes out to the phone number, because 10000 times the prefix only moves it over to the left 4 spaces which allows you to insert the last 4 numbers of your phone number.
... um ... okay? I didn't exactly understand it, but I guess that makes sense.
Well said thom3of5.
It's one of those trick math problems that give you the same number after going through all sorts of meaningless girations.
Or, maybe it's magic, and if you work it out and send it to the square root of your phone number of friends you will receive a good feeling and the answer to a prayer.
I prefer to think it's a trick problem.
As I said, well done thom3of5.
Bob
totally awesome. there's also this thing that my math teacher gave us that it would give us our day of the week that we were born and it was really wierd. but I don't know where it is. if I find it I'll post it.
